Rick Neufeld was born to a prairie farmer in Boissevain, Manitoba, near Winnipeg, Manitoba. He released his third and final album, "Manitobasongs" in 1978 on his own private label: Prairie Dog Records PD 1001. The album was recorded live at the Westman Centennial Auditorium, in Brandon, Manitoba on May 23rd, 1975. The band members included Dale Russell (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba) on lead guitar; Donn "Fiddler" Zeuff (Ste. Anne, Manitoba) on fiddle, banjo, dobro, mandolin, harmonica; Mark Rutherford (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on keyboard, flute; Kim Russell (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba) on bass; Jim Hillman (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on drums, percussion. The album was produced by Rick Neufeld and Colin Bennett for Prairie Dog Productions. Musical arrangements by Dale Russell (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba). Manitobasongs was recorded by remote 16 track facilities of Road West Studios, Winnipeg. Engineered by Glenn Axford and Colin Bennett. Concert Sound by Yamaha. The jacket design and photography by Inland Graphics, Winnipeg. Rick Neufeld wrote the song "Moody Manitoba Morning", made famous by The Bells. Rick made an appearance on the Wild Rice album in 1972 as well as the CBC "Touch the Earth comp" in 1981. With Canadian classics like "Louis Riel", "The People in the Pas", "Flin Flon Gone" and "Brandontown", Rick Neufeld played an important part of creating and preserving our musical heritage.
